A little about our farm…

Liam Duffy: Owner Operator

Liam began farming in Baltimore County, Maryland at Karma Farm in 2019 after working at farm-to-table restaurants in Baltimore. After meeting the farmers who delivered their sustainable produce to the restaurant, he decided that it was time to transition to growing the vegetables himself. His vision was to create a community-focused farm that prioritized sustainability and local co-operation. Liam worked as a farm hand at Karma, cultivating vegetables, tending to the hydroponic crops, and eventually becoming the first employee at Kitchen Girl Farm in Parkton, MD with farmers Christy and Connor. He assisted in transforming a raw piece of land into the thriving farm that it is today.

Starting his own farm was always the long term goal, and he began very small in his first season as Homebody Farm, renting 1/2 acre land in Moorestown, NJ. After his first season, Homebody Farm moved to our permanent location in Chesterfield, NJ to a 7-acre former horse boarding facility.

At the farm, Liam is truly the jack of all trades. He oversees the day-to-day life on the farm, including planting, harvesting, soil health, livestock care, maintaining equipment, integrated pest management, and building projects. He is also the friendly face at the farmer’s market, ready to answer any helpful questions that customer’s may have.

Gaby Lestino: Logistics and Administration

Gaby never imagined herself as a farmer. Growing up in the Pine Barrens, she was always outdoorsy and spent her summers outside in the woods and in the lakes of NJ. She was surrounded by farms in the Garden State, but never considered it as a career for herself. It wasn’t until Liam laid out his farming vision, that Gaby started to see her role in the bigger project of Homebody Farm. During the summer of COVID, she worked part time at Karma Farm, where she truly understood the love and labor that goes into sustainable small farming.

After moving to NJ with Liam in 2021, Gaby began assisting at Homebody Farm with whatever tasks Liam needed in the summer (her day job is a public school art teacher)! After a few years of helping out, she has refined her role on the farm.

She is a field-hand on the farm during the summers. She manages the marketing, farm records, budget, scheduling, delivery and purchasing supplies. She collaborates with Liam on strategic planning and goal setting for the season. She is in charge of floral orders, events, and design work. You can find her on Harvest Fridays knee-deep in the flower field with barn cat Nugget.
