Hello farm family,

Spring is in full swing here on the farm, and we're excited to share what we've been up to and what's coming next.

You're Invited: NJ Fibershed Barn Crawl at Our Farm!

You're Invited: NJ Fibershed Barn Crawl at Our Farm!
📅 Sat. and Sun, June 7th & 8th
🕙 10 AM – 4 PM both days
Farm tour and alpaca demo at 12 PM both days
(this event is free!)

We’re thrilled to be part of the 2025 NJ Fibershed Barn Crawl! This is a rare opportunity to visit our farm and see how our 3 alpacas Bruce, Doc, and Karl contribute to sustainable fiber production. Learn more about our animal husbandry practices, meet the animals, and explore how alpacas help create a regenerative cycle on our farm. More Info here

We’ll have alpaca yarn, raw fleece, fresh veggies, eggs, and local flowers available for purchase—come support local and sustainable agriculture. And while you’re on the barn crawl, make sure to visit our friends Jackie and Ric at Windy Farm Alpacas, which is about a 3-minute drive from our farm.

Busy Planting Season

We're deep into the season of planting, prepping, and it feels like we're racing against the rain every day. The veggie fields are filling up fast with turnips, bok choy, Swiss chard, and soon to come—tomatoes, peppers, and watermelon (!!).

We're also expanding our perennial field, planting herbs and flowers that will return year after year—a special gift for the farm and our community. It’s a joy to think of the beauty and pollinator power this field will bring in seasons to come.

This year, we’ve planted dahlias, are making our first attempt at growing lisianthus, and added zinnias, sunflowers, and more. We can’t wait to share these flowers with you in bunches and bouquets at the market and our farmstand.

Farmstand Grand Opening Recap

Our Mother’s Day farmstand opening on May 10th was a big success—thank you to everyone who came out to support us! It was a joy to see so many family, friends, new and returning customers.

The stand will now be open every Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM with fresh eggs, vegetables, and flowers. Stop by and say hi!

Alpaca Shearing Day

Our alpacas recently got their annual shearing and are feeling fresh and looking fab. Not only do they look amazing, but their fleece will soon be transformed into beautiful, sustainable yarn available at our stand and during the Barn Crawl. Thank you to our shearers Greg and Daniana for doing an excellent job and making it one of the most enjoyable days on the farm!

We collect the alpaca wool to be processed at the wool mill. This is called the blanket. Is on the body of the alpaca and is the highest quality wool on the animal.

After shearing, we usually reward the alpacas for being good boys. Here, they have new pasture for grazing, and diatomaceous earth for dust baths. They absolutely love this and are rolling around on the ground in excitement. It is such a funny sight to witness.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful spring so far. Right now, it is such an exciting and busy time on the farm and we can’t wait to see you at the barn crawl, farm stand, or at the farmers market.

-Hugs,

Gaby + Liam
